Become a Volunteer Coach with Mesabi East Youth Hockey Association (MEYHA)

Coaches are the heart of our program! As a volunteer coach, you’ll have the opportunity to inspire young athletes, teach valuable skills, foster teamwork, and create a fun and positive hockey experience.

We welcome individuals who are passionate about the game, committed to supporting players’ growth, and excited to be part of our hockey community. Complete the application below to be considered for a coaching position this season!

Important: This application must be completed each year.

Coaches who do not currently have players part of the association are also welcome and will be considered for volunteer coaching positions.

Once you are selected as a coach, you will move on to Step 2-4 of the process.

All coaches are required to register on the USA Hockey website. Please follow these steps:

1. Register and pay the applicable coaching fees.
2. Print your registration confirmation/receipt.
3. MEYHA will reimburse your coaching fee. Submit your receipt to the Treasurer via the Board of Directors page.

All coaches must submit a background screening through USA Hockey.

Important: No one, including coaches, is allowed on the ice until their background screening has been submitted and approved.

All MEYHA coaches must complete the following before beginning any coaching duties. These steps help ensure a safe and professional experience for all participants:

1. Safe Sport Training – Required during your first year and every other year thereafter.
2. Age-Specific Modules – Check the USA Hockey website for the modules required for your coaching level. This includes concussion training.
3. Coaching Education Program (CEP) – Refer to the USA Hockey website for CEP requirements based on your coaching level.
